Viktor Šest was born in 1956 in Ljubljana. In 1981 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana with Professor Kiar Meško. Initially, he worked as a technical and artistic editor at the publishing house Obzorje, and since 1984 he has been working as an independent artist. He lives in Maribor.

Continuing the painting of Viktor Šest is an artistic story that grows from the roots of older art – we can take a long walk back to periods when the rendering of human everyday life became an independent genre in fine arts and therefore no longer served as a scenic scene to an important scene, has moved to the forefront. The genre painting, where it is to render ordinary, simple, indifferent individuals, reaches its climax in the works of the Dutch and Flemish artists of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Viktor Šest has turned away from the new movements and soon after studying he discovered his own, distinctly characteristic and personally recognizable style. His professor at the academy, Kiar Meško, in the figure-drawing and drawing-oriented painter, was certainly influenced by the latter. The figurative and drawing are both permanent ones that appeared in his painting immediately after the completion of studies, when the artist began his own creative way. Šest plays the role of an observer, a person who is interested and attracts, in fact, only and only a person, his image. The human figure, the people are burying him, constantly watching them – behind them, beside them, they are steadfast in them, like a kind of voayer, and he shows them in a variety of delicacies.
