MUSEUM – ZAPRICE CASTLE
Michael Thonet – The Charm and Beauty of Bentwood
Discover the story of a visionary who revolutionized the furniture industry through his bentwood manufacturing technique. The exhibition presents iconic chairs, tables, and other bentwood products from the museum’s rich collection and the collection of Jurij Rihar, while also highlighting the important tradition of bentwood furniture production in Duplica near Kamnik.
Vlasto Kopač – A Sense for People and Place
A tribute to the architect, conservationist, mountaineer, and guardian of cultural heritage whose vision profoundly shaped the development of Velika Planina. The exhibition reveals his life journey and the continuing relevance of his ideas on the sustainable coexistence of people and nature.
Majda Neřima, Architect
This guest exhibition presents the remarkable body of work of Plečnik’s student, who designed both sacred and residential architecture in Slovenia and Madagascar. The exhibition marks the 110th anniversary of her birth.
Let There Be Light
In the museum courtyard, discover the more than 300-year-old candle-making and gingerbread-making tradition of the Stele family, one of the oldest crafts in Kamnik.
Visitors can also explore the permanent exhibitions on the history of Kamnik, Velika Planina, Kamnik’s bourgeois heritage, and Zaprice Castle.
RUDOLF MAISTER BIRTH HOUSE
“The Savinja Shall Be Our Sacred Scapular.” Maister in Celje, 1913–1914
This new exhibition sheds light on a lesser-known period of Rudolf Maister’s life in Celje, where he was not only a soldier, but also a poet, intellectual, and mentor to young students.
You can also visit the permanent exhibition Rudolf Maister – General, Patriot, Poet, and Bibliophile, which tells the life story of one of Slovenia’s most important historical figures.
MIHA MALEŠ GALLERY
Dušan Letnar
This exhibition presents the work of the renowned Kamnik photographer, who documents industrial heritage, life on Velika Planina, and the everyday lives of people and places in Kamnik through the lens of analogue photography.
Permanent exhibitions Miha Maleš – A Poetic Painter and Artists from Kamnik and Associated with Kamnik are also on display.
VIEW GALLERY
Art on Postcard
This group exhibition explores the postcard as both a nostalgic and contemporary artistic medium. The focus is on message, image, and personal connection in the age of digital communication.
