Slovenian cultural holiday in the Kamnik’s Museum

all units
When: 08.02.2023, from 10:00 to 18:00

On February 8, we celebrate the holiday of Slovenian culture and the memory of the Slovenian poet France Prešeren, who died on this day in 1849. This Day has been a holiday since 1945, and the state of Slovenia has also preserved it and declared it a public holiday in 1991, which is, of course, primarily intended for culture. Many cultural institutions invite visitors to free tours of exhibitions, performances and events.

You are also invited to the Intermunicipal museum Kamnik, where many things will be happening on February 8, 2023.

On the holiday itself, on Wednesday, February 8, all units of the Kamnik Intercommunal Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for free viewing of permanent and occasional exhibitions:

  • Miha Maleš Gallery: Jakob Savinšek – 100, Miha Maleš, Kamnik’s artists

  • Museum – Zaprice castle: Slovenian ships and the Kamnik ship, Secret paths of Negau helmet, 100 years GRS Kamnik, permanent exhibitions

On February 8, 2023, at 11 a.m., you are especially invited to the museum for a public guided tour of the exhibition The Secret Paths of Negau Helmets. Co-author Janja Železnikar will lead.

On February 8, 2023, at 4 p.m., you are also invited to the Rudolf Maister’s birthplace for the last public tour of the visiting exhibition from Carinthia: Region & Identity. Old names in Austrian Carinthia. Alenka Juvan will lead.
