Slovenia and Ecuador on a date with Brazil

Slovenian jazz singer Ajda Stina Turek, currently living and creating in New York and Ecuadorian violinist, violist and singer Gerson Eguiguren, will present at the Castle Zaprice in Kamnik on the International Museum Day 2019. They will perform Brazilian compositions from Djavan, Tom Jobim and Antonio Carlos Jobim, and adds some songs more in the Slovene and Spanish languages. They decided to work on a Brazilian music project because they linked it strongly through their education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where both graduated. Every time they met at school, and wanted to get together, they agreed that Brazilian songs are positive and relaxing, as is their friendly relationship. Portuguese is a very warm language, and it has put them in good mood.

About the Performers:
AJDA STINA TUREK, year 1994, with the highest marks – Summa Cum Laude graduated from Vocal Performance at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA in 2018.
In 2013, at the Berklee Jazz Clinics Summer School at the Jazz Festival Umbria in Perugia, she received the special award among 60 young singers from 29 countries, partly a scholarship for all four years of study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She was given the opportunity to begin her studies, starting with her graduation from the high school Jože Plečnik in Ljubljana and at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, where the main subject was jazz singing taught by prof. Nada Žgur. During her studies in the United States she collaborated with musicians such as Kurt Elling, Sheila Jordan, Kevin Mahogany, Ellis Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Rita Moreno, Lionel Richie, Kenny Werner and Peter Eldridge, who for some time was her professor.
In March 2018, Ajda Stina Turek released the Sonder album, with compositions and lyrics in English. The genre ranges from Latin jazz, RnB to blues. 25 musicians from the United States, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Ecuador, Croatia, Poland, etc. participated in the recording. She had a promotional tour in March 2018 in Slovenia with musicians brought from Boston. At the Radio Slovenia, the concert was filmed live, and the recording as a Slovenian representative was broadcast by European radio stations on the International Jazz Day on 30 April 2018.
GERSON EGUIGUREN is a singer, violinist and violist, born in 1992 in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Gerson also graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2017.
Gerson performed and recorded in the international scene as a singer, violinist and violist alongside renowned musicians such as Susan Baca, Joyce Moreno, Milton Nascimento, Pablo Zeigler, Jacob Collier, Tigran Hamasyan, Beyonce and Kenny Werner, to name a few.
All of these experiences gave Gerson a distinguished base where he studied various musical styles. He is also the founder and art director of “Vocal Acapella Quartet Muzu”, a group that organizes worldwide workshops based on vocal improvisation and spontaneous composition.
Gerson: “I think music is the strongest tool that can deliver messages, share stories, change policy, help those in need, people connect with it, learn other cultures and countries, and are able to better understand others and with to sympathize with them. “
