As part of Kamfest 2025, which will take place from August 8 to 16, 2025, several events will also be held at the Miha Maleš Gallery and Zaprice Castle.

A MUSEUM VIEW THROUGH THE GALLERY – Fourth Edition

The First Kamnik ARTOHOD
Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
(Saša Bučan and Allja Petric)

7:00 PM – Meeting point: in front of the WWI monument at the entrance to the Kamnik cemetery (Žale).

We will begin with a viewing of the renovated Tršar’s Monument to the Revolution. The walk will then continue past the birth houses of painters the Koželj family and Ivan Vavpotič, and past the former studios of Karel Zelenko and Stane Cuderman, toward the Miha Maleš Gallery.

At the gallery, there will be a guided tour of the permanent exhibition Artists from Kamnik and Connected to Kamnik and the new temporary exhibition So Close, So Far by Saša Bučan, featuring guest artists Louise Winter and Oliver Pilić.

9:00 PM – Concert of improvised music in the gallery, featuring Allja Petric (percussion, vocals, electronics).

URBAN WALK THROUGH KAMNIK

Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
(Marko Kumer, Irina Mitov, Goran Završnik, Toni Lah Quintet, and Aleksander Sever Trio)

7:00 PM – Meeting point: at Zaprice Castle – Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik

The evening starts with a guided tour of the exhibition Joyful in Kamnik with Marko Kumer, followed by a tour of the exhibition on Felicita Kalinšek with Irina Mitov.

We then continue with a walk through Šutna, led by Goran Završnik, enriched with engaging stories from Kamnik’s recent history. We’ll explore Slovenia’s most beautiful and most “anesthetized” street, Šutna, a devastated area in the center that features both an actual and an urban jungle, and finally ascend to Mali grad (Little Castle).

The walk ends at 9:00 PM on the City Stage with a concert by Kamnik-born vibraphonist Aleksander Sever and his international impro-jazz trio – performing in Slovenia for the first time. Before the trio, the Toni Lah Quintet, led by guitarist Toni Lah, will take the stage.

PUBLIC ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATION OF THE NIGHT SKY

Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Meadow in front of Zaprice Castle
(RAK – Research Astronomical Club of GSŠRM and Kamnik Astronomers)

Before sunset, early visitors will have the opportunity to observe sunspots – though fewer than in past months, they’re still present. There may even be a chance to catch a major solar flare, as such events are currently more frequent.

After sunset, we’ll wait for the darkness to reveal the first stars – perhaps we’ll also be treated to a meteor or even a bolide. A greater number of meteors would not be surprising, since this night marks the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, also known as The Tears of St. Lawrence.

For a more comfortable experience, bring a mat, blanket, or reclining chair.

Through telescopes, we’ll observe nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies of the summer evening sky. Those who stay late will, around 10:00 or 10:30 PM, also get a glimpse of the Moon, just a few days past full, lighting up the sky. Still, we’ll be able to observe Saturn, which will rise nearly at the same time – its iconic rings are always a crowd favorite.

The observation will take place in good weather, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 7:00 to 11:00 PM, on the meadow by the museum granaries near Zaprice Castle. In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Wednesday, August 13.
