Guided Tour on Velika Planina with Geographer Borut Peršolja

on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at 8:45 a.m.

Meeting point: lower station of the cable car to Velika Planina (542 m) at 8:45 a.m.

The route will begin with a cable car ride from the lower station to Šimnovec. From there, we will continue on foot through the holiday cottage settlement towards Rigelj and along the edge of the plateau above the cliffs known as Stene. Along the way, we will discover the natural features of Velika Planina and enjoy panoramic views.

The route will take us past Luknja to the Ruševka hut, formerly owned by Vlasto Kopač. We will ascend Gradišče (1,668 m), the highest peak of Velika Planina. The descent will lead us through the Domžale herdsmen’s settlement, where we will explore the sinkholes Velika Vetrnica and Mala Vetrnica. We will then continue to Zeleni rob before returning to the valley.

The guided tour is expected to conclude at approximately 2:00 p.m. Afterwards, at 2:15 p.m., you are invited to watch a documentary film about the life and work of Vlasto Kopač at the Skodla refreshment hut.

Cable car ticket price: according to the current price list. We recommend purchasing your cable car ticket in advance through the online shop or at the ticket office upon arrival at the cable car station.
