Forward to the past - Holiday museum

Zaprice Castle Museum and administration
When: from 07.12.2020, 00:00 to 11.12.2020, 18:00

As written by dr. Aleksandra Berberih-Slana, President of the Presidency of the Association of Museums of Slovenia and Maja Hakl Saje, Head of the Movable Heritage and Museums Service at the National Museum of Slovenia, museums and galleries are closed again, which does not mean that work does not continue. We take care of the heritage, edit it, prepare exhibitions and projects, but unfortunately, we cannot open the door to see it live. Because of this, we are moving online again and hope to bring some festive atmosphere into your home: https://online.fliphtml5.com/mbaxd/neco/

The Forward to the Past campaign, in which more than sixty museums, galleries and other cultural institutions are participating, will be held under the subtitle Festive Museum, as we need some additional festive atmosphere, and museums and galleries keep many witnesses of the past. Browse the program, see who is involved and what we are preparing for you, and then, in the comfort of your own home, embark on a journey #naprejvpreteklost to #holidaymuseum.

Everything in the Kamnik Museum is marked by the Slovenian majolika, an exhibition that we opened in cooperation with the National Museum of Slovenia in November 2020. The majolica has a special status in both the Kamnik and Slovenian traditions. It has become, so to speak, a mythological object, closely connected with the identity of the Slovene nation. As a symbol of good and happy company, it is sung by folk songs. We will premiere two events on our website and FB:

  • An interesting story about the Kamnik majolika will be published on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 9 am
  • On Friday, 11 December 2020 at 10 am, a conversation with the Slovenian painter Karel Zelenko, who also created in the company Keramika Kamnik, will be shown.
