Exhibition Opening
“The Savinja Will Be Our Sacred Scapular: Maister in Celje, 1913–1914”
The exhibition highlights a short yet significant period when Rudolf Maister served in Celje as commander of the Black Army battalion. In a distinctly divided German-Slovenian town, Maister was least of all a soldier – much more a poet, intellectual, and mentor to the students of the Celje State Grammar School.
The exhibition was created in collaboration between the Rudolf Maister Birth House, the Museum of Recent History Celje, the First Grammar School Celje, and the Central Library Celje.
Exhibition author: Alenka Juvan.
