Press conference marking the Year of Kopač
Ana Porok, Janja Železnikar
An exceptionally rich legacy of Vlasto Kopač is preserved in Slovenian museums, research institutions, archives, and the media, safeguarded by numerous central cultural and research institutions as well as individuals.
In 2026, marking the 20th anniversary of his death (27 April), partner institutions will dedicate the year to the memory of this versatile figure—alpinist, architect, student of Plečnik, conservator, draftsman, designer, and guardian of natural and cultural heritage.
The project includes the publication of a monograph, exhibitions, a symposium, guided tours, lectures, discussions, documentary film screenings, and workshops. The goal is to present Kopač comprehensively to both professional and general audiences and to highlight his lasting contribution to heritage preservation.
The press conference will take place on 25 February 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Plečnik House in Ljubljana.
