Dr. Mira Omerzel – Mirit with the Vedun ensemble: Heritage of the Past for the Future. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her research into the spiritual and musical heritage of Slovenes, Europe and the world.

Half a century long is the immeasurable enthusiasm of the self-propelled dr. Mira Omerzel – Mirit in the research of Slovenian musical and spiritual heritage, both European and world, in a country where historical memory is not very numerous or even a thorn in the side, where centuries and millennia inherited tradition. But if we do not know our past and the essence of our own culture, we easily get lost in the painstaking search for our own identity. Dr. of Musicological Sciences and univ. dipl. ethnologist – Mirit conquered and became addicted to researching folk instruments and music already in high school (at the age of 16). Pioneering penetration in the scale and power of sound, and interdisciplinary scientific work in the post-war period, enabled her to become more aware of the timeless messages of the past of the spiritual and life pulsation of ancestors, whose message is equally important for contemporaries. Timeless is this pulse, wording, sound play and spiritual essences that still teach and inspire us, and knowing the messages of the past shortens our path in finding the worthwhile and important and in breaking through the maze of life puzzles. It is only worth listening. The sound images of the ancestors are an intertwining of spirit and sound play – from Celtic and Slavic times to Old Slavic sounds. With her ensembles Trutamora Slovenica / Truta / Vedun, Mirit has toured all over Slovenia, Europe, the Balkans, Belarus, America, Egypt, Greece and elsewhere. Mirit and music collaborators, as curators in the gallery of Slovene and Slavic sound and as ambassadors of Slovene culture in the world, took ancient world sounds to all continents. To learn first-hand about the cultures of the world, she visited many countries: Siberia (Khakassia and Tuva), North America, Mexico and Brazil, Australia, Bali, the Philippines, Egypt, Morocco, Greece, European and Balkan countries, Hawaii… Among the natives learned about the importance and dedication of ancient cultures.

She has received numerous high awards for her research work (the Štrekl Award of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts), the Betetto Award, the Orpheus JRT Belgrade, the Golden Bird of Youth for musical revitalization and presentation of our tradition, and two gold medals for ethnological film at the Raduga Festival in Moscow; as well as a number of awards for pedagogical work (Musical Youth of Slovenia, Andragoški center). She is the initiator of a new one scientific discipline in the world: ethno-archaeo-medical and vibrational musicology.

Mira’s work gradually developed into therapeutic work. As a sound energy therapist, she has helped many, written 20 extensive books (about as many are still to be published), played over 1,000 concerts, published more than 100 scientific papers and popular articles for a wider audience, and published numerous CDs with her collaborators, LP- is, TV and radio shows, DVDs and many audio-video recordings. Her spiritual school Veduna – Slavic-Pythagorean chair for the development of consciousness and harmonization with sound has been operating for more than 25 years, the ensemble is 44 years old, and its therapeutic school is 10 years old. Mirit saved many Slovene folk instruments from oblivion and staged the most valuable Slovene musical tradition.

As a spiritual teacher, medium and healer, she was accepted all over the world, on all continents. Together with priests-musicians-healers of various cultures and spiritual teachings, she worked hard for the good of the planet in the new millennium. For better and more spiritual times. In all of the above, many interesting, unusual, important, as well as barely perceptible things happened. This time she will speak about it publicly for the first time: in reflection, for remembrance and also as a reminder of what is still worth considering, what to avoid, what to bow…

In March this year, her book was published, written for those times, entitled Weaving the Life Energy of Mind and Body, and the anniversary concert was held on July 11 in Vila Vipolže. thoughts and emotions. Of course, it will not be possible in Kamnik without musical entertainment. The ensemble will enrich the lecture with the sounds and melodies of Old Slovenes, Celts, Slavs, Old Europe, Siberia, the Balkan countries, Africa, Indians, Hawaii…
