Gallery Miha Maleš
When: 10.11.2021, from 18:00 to 19:00

People wear very different clothes – depending on the purpose for which we dress, the options we have, and much more. Some people occasionally wear a special dress, we can also say a dress for special occasions, intended for the display of Slovene national pride – “national costume”. It was born in the middle of the 19th century and is still developing today, but the question is whether we know the roots of this phenomenon, its development and the variants that took shape in Slovenia. Have you ever wondered why the clothing heritage of the people of Gorenjska has so radically marked its image and what place does Kamnik play in this?

Ethnologist dr.  Bojan Knific will try to answer these and other questions of affiliation costume. He is a curator at the Tržič Museum. He has written several books on the former clothing culture of Slovenes, and pays special attention to the development of clothing “national costumes” or. affiliation costumes.
