We will meet in the birth house of Rudolf Maister, Šutna 23 in Kamnik, every other Thursday from 10 am to 11:30 am; we start on October 5, 2023, exceptionally in the museum at Zaprice Castle.

WITH GAME TO HERITAGE – Museum workshop: My helmet

As part of the all-Slovenian campaign WITH GAME TO HERITAGE, a workshop entitled My Helmet is organized in conjunction with the occasional exhibition The Secret Path of Negau’s Helmets. At the workshop we learn about the time 5.-4. St. BC, the then Iron Age elite and their wearers, and the stories of three exceptional helmets that are presented at the exhibition. Let’s recreate the Negau-type helmet. Free workshop.

FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE SUHADOLE’S WELL

The exhibition shows the finds of a Roman well from Suhadole near Komenda from the beginning of the 1st century AD. Various objects lay in the well: pottery jugs, wooden and metal buckets, animal bones, fragments of vessels, tools, parts of clothing and parts of various equipment, which tell us stories about the way of life, work, fashion and more of the inhabitants of the Kamniška Bistrica plain at that time.

Tanja Drovenik Čalič: EDUCATION AND SCHOOLS AT KAMNIK IN THE 60S OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Tanja Drovenik Čalič will present the development of education in Kamnik in the 60s of the 20th centuries at the museum evening in conjunction with the exhibition Joyfull to Kamnik.

Dr. Aleš Gabrič: STATE SHS

Dr. Aleš Gabrič will give a lecture on Slovenes and their rapid cultural progress, the creation and proclamation of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, which was created in this very month, on October 29, 1918. Dr. Gabrič will present the circumstances and dynamics of that time in words and pictures, which influenced the “short life” of the SHS State.

On the 110th anniversary of the birth of Vlast Kopač (1913-2006), we are premiering a film, produced by MMK, which sheds light on Kopač’s life and all-round activities of this too often ignored architect, conservator, designer, draftsman, mountaineer.
