International Museum Day in Intermunicipal museum Kamnik
International Museum Day
Monday, 18 May 2026
10.00–16.00
In 1977, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) proclaimed 18 May as International Museum Day, celebrated each year to highlight the important role museums play in society. Museums around the world mark the occasion with programmes and activities that emphasize their role as spaces of cultural exchange, understanding, cooperation, and peace.
In 2026, International Museum Day will take place under the theme “Museums Connecting a Divided World.” The theme highlights museums as places of dialogue, inclusion, and connection in times of social division.
