Forward into the Past

The month of April once again brings the joint promotional campaign of SMS and SMD, Forward into the Past, which the Intermunicipal Museum Kamnik is once again joining. For several years, the campaign has been connecting Slovenian museums and galleries in an effort to present heritage to the widest possible audience in a slightly different way and to highlight its importance in the contemporary world.

It will take place from April 13 to April 19, 2026, under the title “Museums Connecting a Divided World.” At a time when differences between individuals and communities seem to be increasingly coming to the forefront, museums and galleries remain spaces for meeting, dialogue, and understanding. Through our collections, exhibitions, and stories, we create opportunities for connection—between the past and the present, between different generations, and among diverse experiences and perspectives. The heritage we preserve is not merely a reflection of the past, but a living bridge that connects us and encourages shared reflection on the future.
