Open Call to Artists for the Submission of Works – ART ON A POSTCARD

At View Gallery, an exhibition space that has been operating within the Miha Maleš Gallery in Kamnik for over a decade, curator Saša Bučan, together with co-author, British artist Louise Winter, is preparing the exhibition Art on a Postcard.

Why a postcard? As a nostalgic reminder of a time when, from anywhere and for almost any occasion, we would still pick up a pen and write a sentence or two—sometimes even filling nearly the entire postcard with correspondence, recording everyday moments or even very intimate thoughts. The nostalgic quality of postcards, which for many represented a unique form of collection, something you could occasionally return to and reread messages from another time. A postcard—something you hardly ever receive today anymore, in a world without letters, where the mailbox rarely holds anything more than an energy bill. The digital has become everyday life, and with it our lack of attention to detail, to the moment itself.

The choice of the postcard format and an open call stems from a desire for inclusion, opening the exhibition to a wide circle of participants and shaping it as a shared, non-hierarchical platform for artistic expression. The postcard, as a simple and accessible format, enables broad participation and encourages a diversity of artistic approaches.

The exhibition Art on a Postcard will present visitors with numerous small, original works that will pause them for a moment, open their eyes to subtle details, and fill their time spent with art.

Submitted works must be originals, in postcard size (approximately A6 format). In terms of content and approach, everything is welcome—from drawing, printmaking, collage, textile, and more. On the side intended for the address and correspondence, please also write your information or website, if you have one.

After the exhibition, the works will be retained until the 2027/2028 exhibition season, during which, in the exhibition space of the Miha Maleš Gallery, we will present exhibitions and authors who were represented in Gallery Pogled over the past five years.

We invite you to send your postcard artwork (approximately A6 format) to the address:

with the note Art on a Postcard — we recommend sending it in an envelope. And, as is almost obligatory with a postcard, write down a thought that comes to you in the moment.
