International Museum Day – May 18

Join us in celebrating International Museum Day on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Zaprice Castle, Muzejska pot 3, Kamnik. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, you’re warmly invited to enjoy free entry to our permanent and temporary exhibitions at the museum.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established May 18 as International Museum Day back in 1977. Since then, museums around the world have marked the day by opening their doors and offering special activities that highlight the important role museums play in shaping and supporting society.

The aim of International Museum Day is to raise awareness of museums as spaces for cultural exchange that promote understanding, cooperation, and peace among people.

This year, ICOM has introduced a fresh visual identity and a timely theme:
“The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.”
The focus is on how museums respond to today’s social, technological, and environmental changes—and how they help build a shared future.
